The Merrillville High School Choirs will present their final concert of the 2004-2005 season, Top 40, on May 19th at 7:30 PM in Reinhart Auditorium. Don't miss the final performance by the MHS Choirs Class of 2005! The show will feature a review of popular from the past several decades. March 15th: Contest Concert

The Merrillville High School Choirs will present their annual contest concert this Tuesday, March 15th. The evening of classical music will begin at 7:30 PM in Reinhart Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by students who received a "superior" rating at the ISSMA solo/ensemble competition as well as a performance by guest violinist Ashley Korak, who has performed with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra.

Ticket are $5 for adults, $4 for students/seniors, and $20 for a family pass. Proceeds from ticket and concession sales will benefit the Susan Emig Memorial Scholarship, which provides funding to Merrillville students interested in pursuing higher education in music and the arts. Winter Choir Concert, "A Christmas Portrait"

The Merrillville High School Choral Department presented their 2004 winter concert, A Christmas Portrait on Thursday, December 16th at 7:30 PM in Reinhart Auditorium. The show featured a variety of Christmas favorites, both traditional and contemporary.

Seussical, the Musical

The MHS Theatre Company completed their two-weekend run of Seussical, the Musical this past Sunday. I have posted a few photos of the show over in the gallery. There have been rumors that some photos will eventually be posted over on the drama web site as well.

Fall Concert on October 12th

Coming to Reinhart Auditorium next Tuesday, be sure to catch the MHS Choirs' Fall Concert! This concert will feature music from Broadway musicals and will include performances from all five choirs, in addition to solos, small ensembles, and two special performances by the participants in our summer choir camp!

Tickets will be sold at the door and are $5 for adults and $4 for students & seniors. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show starts at 7:30. Don't miss the first public show of the 2004-2005 choral department season.

"To The Music!" (Choir Memories Video 2004)

If you're blessed with a broadband internet connection (or a lot of patience), you can enjoy a streaming-video version of the 2004 Choir Memories Video, "To The Music!". The video was produced by Tom Dobes & Roger Emig and features photos of trips, performances, rehearsals, and other fun choir activities over the past couple of years. This video is also certified free of bad puns... I promise. The online version is designed to stream over a 256kbps connection. It's encoded as a RealMedia v9 file, so you might need a player from here (Real Alternative) or here (RealPlayer; get the free version). While I am not officially selling copies of this year's video, I may give you a free copy if you ask me nicely. ;) Hopefully, next school year will greet you with a redesigned web site. In the meantime, you might enjoy seeing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which will presented in early July. (plug, plug, plug!) Have a great summer, everyone!

Chicago Trip Photos and Web Site Maintenance

Those of you who attended this year's spring break trip to Chicago may enjoy the photos from the trip which I recently put online. If I recieve copies of photos taken by anyone else, I will be happy to post them here as well. You can e-mail photos to me, loan me a CD-R of photos, or loan me the actual prints. (I'll scan and return them.) In other news, I will be working on the design and layout of the web site over the next couple of weeks. I'll be updating and changing a great deal of the code used to create the pages, and adding/removing features. If you have any suggestions, feel free to create a comment on this announcement or to e-mail me. In the meantime, "pardon our (well... my) dust." Oh... and have a wonderful spring break!

Mandatory Meeting for Spring Trip

Attention all choir members who will be going on the spring break trip to Chicago: There is a mandatory meeting for both students and parents attending the trip this Tuesday at 7pm in the choir room. Forms will be filled out, rules and regulations discussed, and your questions answered. Students Perform in 2004 ISSMA District Competition

On January 31st, members of the Merrillville High School Choirs competed in the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Wheeler High School. A few photographs taken at the event are now available here on the web site. Congratulations to all who competed!
